Both gold and vanilla are found in the flooded rainforests of the Peruvian Amazon. One of those is the reason for the destruction of a megadiverse ecosystem and the contamination of people’s source of water, and the other one is a highly valued product that has the potential to change the source of income for local people and secure the future of this forest.
